Hi, everybody! I was struck by the amazing mansion/train depot/museum/Addams family estate, just outside the coffee shop where we had our meeting Saturday. As soon as the meeting was over, I dashed outside to get a few photographs and see if I could figure out what it was. There are no clues as to what this place could be! A private residence? Yet it has cathedral sized arched stained glass windows. And gargoyles! Now, I respect anyone who is classy enough to put gargoyles on a home, but it doesn't seem to happen in this century. I suspected the building was very old and not just a little bit haunted, A better guess was an abandoned state mental hospital, here, in this very old part of town, or maybe the religious center for a cult. We left, but I couldn't stop thinking about it.
Last night I lay in bed, wide awake, with only the light of my cell phone to guide me on my quest to solve this mystery. After more than an hour of searching, I finally had the address and tax records of this behemoth. I say behemoth because it is a private residence, over 8,100 square feet and valued at a cool $979,000.00, almost a million dollars! But the thing that shock me, is that this home, built in the historic Huning Neighborhood of Albuquerque was not built in the 20th century, or even the 19th century! It was built in 2007 by jewelry entrepreneur, Gertrude Zachery, as a personal fulfillment of a childhood fantasy. Must be nice to be rich. As to whether or not it's haunted-doubtful. But we could stop into her shop just next door and ask her! Maybe she'd let us peek inside! I'll bring my ghost meter, just in case!
