Greetings,
It was a pleasure to meet some of you yesterday.
I would like to host a Steampunk Masquerade Ball in Spring 2014, most likely in April.
I am looking for suggestions or ideas of things to do at the ball.
Some suggestions already:
Mask making workshop Contra dancing Tiffin - Tea Dueling
Anything else you would like to see?
I am also looking for a venue to host the event. Preferably something with a large dance floor and some steampunk looking decorations in place. Let me know if you can think of a place.
Thanks and more details will follow. Christina

Hi Christina,as of right now I can think of 3 possibilities. Hotel Andaluz, it is done in the territorial style for a bit of the old west vibe. the drawback is that it is likely very expensive. Hotel Albuquerque by old town. Very beautiful but also expensive, although it is within walking distance of Old Town, allowing for the opportunity for guests to slip away and do photo ops. Barcelona Suites is likely to be much more affordable and has a beautiful stonework, saltillo tile and a fountail in the atrium, the draw back is that the Atrium which doubles as their event space is an open floor plan meaning anyone can walk in, plus they recently painted the walls bright orange.

Hi Christina, I second Karen's hotel suggestions, especially Hotel Albuquerque. If it is held there, maybe there can be a deal with ghost tours to add that as an activity. As for other activities how about poker/card games?

How about a Steampunk technology display? A showcase for people's handmade props.
