ABQ Steampunk Society Buisness Meeting- January 12th, 2013
Attendees: Alex, Karen, GiGi, Gevena (new), Linda (new), Teresa (new), Brigitte, Kim, Aaron, Dave, Nikoel, Ashby, Will, Brianna, Michelle, Zane, Jennifer, Leah
1. Updates on:
a. Metropolis Comic Gallery will be on the 25th of this month
i. Hosting a goggle workshop, Tucker will be running it
ii. If anyone wants to volunteer, let A know and she will pass it on to Tucker
iii. Ask Tucker if he needs anymore supplies
iv. Charging 15-20 per set depending on elaborateness
b. ABQSS was approached by the ABQ Journal to contribute to a piece regarding Steampunk themed décor in homes. Still trying to find out when the article will be released.
c. Tiffin party update: Leah
i. At Leah’s house
1. Bring finger foods, or monetary donations to go towards the cost of biscuits and tea.
2. Attendance will be limited to 12 people, due to space. Future Tiffin parties will be held in spaces that can accommodate more attendees
2. Upcoming workshops
a. Due to lack of RSVP and 2 additional shops in the next couple weeks, time pieces will be re-scheduled (canceled?) for later in the year
b. Weapons: update from Karen
i. Attendees need to bring their own supplies, there will be a community pile, but if you want to use it plan to donate money to Karen to cover the cost.
ii. Attendance is capped at 10 and already full.
c. Parasols- update from Brigitte
1. We will be adding a cost ($10) and paper parasols will be provided.
2. For those who RSVP’d please pay on Meet up for your spot by February 1, or your RSVP will be cancelled.
3. Wild Wild West Con 3
a. The main hotel is sold out, but there are some nearby ones with discount prices for those who may need a room.
b. The Aristocrat pass has a number of limited tickets available, so if interested please get your tickets soon.
c. Maverick and day passes are usually available on the day of the event.
4. Wheels Museum for Business meetings and Events
a. On 2nd 1100 SE Albuquerque NM
b. Old train warehouse, 2 huge buildings converting into a museum.
c. Office with table to hold business meetings, enclosed
d. Social event place
e. That which could be/ steampunk section
f. Has parking and is free.
g. Willing to be a sponsor for advertising
h. Potential workshop space.
i. Museum has been open for a bit, but it not real polished. As goodwill gesture we will be holding a cleanup work party to help polish it up.
5. Events for April
a. Business meeting- date and location will be sent out to the executive committee and heads of committees.
b. Workshop- masquerade masks, or something else
c. Event- Steampunk Masquerade? Need more info from ABQ Cosplay
d. There is no actual event for February. We were hoping for a Diesel punk event put on by ABQ Cosplay, but so far no word on that.
i. We are hoping to host a Wheel’s Clean up Party and then a social Meet and Greet .
1. Leah will contact the curator and try to set up dates.
e. Easter Egg Hunt- Jane is handling.
i. Holding the hunt the weekend before Easter at the park behind Walmart on Eubank.
1. The park is small but spacious with parking
ii. The date is Saturday April 12th . Time will be 1-3 in the afternoon.
iii. Cost will be $5.00 to go towards the cost of plastic eggs and stuff to fill them with.
iv. Lunch will be picnic style , bring you own food plus a little extra to share if you would like.
v. RSVP by March 22nd.
vi. GiGI is planning for 15-20.
6. Committees
a. Due to group’s numbers increasing, committees are going to be set up to run different sections/activities of our group.
b. Explain the different committees and ask for volunteers
i. Will send out a list of committees via meetup, so those who were not here have a chance to decide.
c. Choose heads of the committees
i. Once we get all the volunteers for each committee Chairs will be chosen.
ii. Committees Heads will give a report at each monthly meeting
d. Business meetings will run a bit differently
i. Executive committee and Chair heads will be the only ones to attend meetings.
ii. Committees will meet and provide a report update at the business meetings
iii. Notes from the meeting be disseminated via the forums

v. Conventions and Panels
vi. Fundraising

a. We are putting together an official set of bylaws to help govern our group as we grow.
